Do You Have Type 2 Diabetes? Then you’re not alone. Every day, hundreds of Americans discover that they have type 2 diabetes. In fact, nearly 1.5 million Americans now have type 2 Diabetes — to the point were it has become virtually an epidemic.

Why did I get Type 2 Diabetes?

It is generally thought that Type 2 Diabetes is caused by a combination of excess weight and a sedentary lifestyle.

The most natural cures

If you have or think you have Type 2 Diabetes, the first thing you need to do is see your family physician. He or she will most likely counsel you to change your diet and start exercising. I have a friend who did just that and has successfully controlled his Type 2 Diabetes without the use of any medications whatsoever.

The good news is that the exercise does not have to consist of lifting hundreds of pounds of weights or spending hours on a treadmill. The best exercise you can do is to simply walk for 30 minutes every day. This will not only help you control your Type 2 Diabetes, it will help you lose weight and feel better.

Bitter gourd

There are some natural herbs that have been found to help control diabetes. The most popular of these is probably Bitter Gourd. It has been established that this plant contains a hypoglycemic or insulin-like principle which can be valuable for lowering blood and urine sugar levels. To get the best results, you should take the juice of about four or five karelas every morning on an empty stomach. You can also add the seeds in powdered form to your food.

Indian gooseberry

With its high vitamin C content, Indian Gooseberry is also considered to be helpful with diabetes. Take a tablespoon of its juice, mix it with a cup of Bitter Gourd juice, and take it daily for two months. This may stimulate the islets of Langerhans, which is that group of cells that secrete the hormone insulin in your pancreas. This mixture may also help reduce your blood sugar.

Fenugreek

The seeds of the fenugreek plant have also been found effective in treating diabetes. If you use them in varying doses of 25gm to 100gm daily, it can diminish reactive hyperglycemia. The fenugreek seeds may also significantly reduce your levels of glucose, serial cholesterol and triglycerides.

Bengal Gram and Black Gram

Bengal Gram has been shown in experiments to enhance the utilization of glucose in both normal patients and in diabetics. These experiments have demonstrated that diabetic patients who do not have to severely restrict their intake of carbohydrates can add liberal amounts of Bengal Gram extract and should see a considerable improvement in their fasting blood sugar levels, glucose tolerance, and urinary excretion of sugar.

If you are Type 2 Diabetes is on the mild side , you can try adding two tablespoons of germinated black gram with a half cup of fresh bitter gourd and a teaspoon of honey. You should take this once daily for three to four months.

Helpful foods

There are also a number of foods that have proven helpful in controlling diabetes. One is jambul fruit. It can be effective because its seeds contain a glucoside called jamboline which is believed to be able to check the pathological conversion of starch into sugar in cases of increased production of glucose.

Other foods that may be helpful in controlling diabetes include grapefruit, mango leaves, string beans, cucumber, onion and garlic.

Be sure to consult with your doctor

While these various foods and herbs have helped a number of diabetics, you should consult with your physician before using any of them. Tell your doctor what it is you think you would like to try and he or she will be able to tell you if the treatment will be safe and useful.

Diabetic Meal Planning Is A Must For All Diabetes Sufferers!

Healthy eating through diabetic meal planning is an important aspect of diabetes management. In most cases, your doctor is likely to recommend a dietitian or a diabetes educator to help you with your diabetic meal planning. A meal plan will be developed according to your specific needs such as the kinds of foods that you enjoy and current lifestyle. In addition, your meal plan will also focus on controlling calories to help you lose excess weight if you are facing obesity issues.

When you have type 2 diabetes, the type and amount of food you eat and when you eat affects your blood sugar levels. Blood sugar levels go up after eating. You should try to eat about the same amount of food at about the same time each day to keep you blood glucose near normal levels. If you eat a big dinner one day and a small dinner the next, your blood glucose levels may fluctuate too much.

You should note that there is no single diabetes diet that is right for everyone. However, there are a few points that you should remember during your diabetic meal planning. Firstly, carbohydrates are especially important because they have the largest influence on blood glucose. You should eat about the same amount of carbohydrate-rich foods at about the same time each day. For instance, you can consume foods such as fruits, milk, starches (whole-grain bread, cereal or rice) and starchy vegetables (corn or potatoes) during your meal times. In addition, ensure that your starches come from whole grains because they contain fiber and many other nutrients and are digested and absorbed by the body more slowly than refined starches. This can help to maintain a steady glucose level in your body.

Another important aspect of diabetic meal planning involves the appropriate ratio of total calories to nutrients such as proteins and healthy fats. Depending on you circumstances, your dietitian may recommend slightly different percentages for you. The typical recommendations for the ratio of total calories to nutrients are as follows:

1. 45 to 65 percent consisting of carbohydrates

2. 12 to 20 percent consisting of proteins

3. 10 to 30 percent consisting of fats

In addition, you should limit your intake of foods that are high in cholesterol, such as egg yolks. Avoid high-fat foods and sweets because they provide a lot of calories but few nutrients. Keeping track of your calories intake can help you keep your blood sugar at as steady level and help you make adjustments for reaching weight goals.

By following the above guidelines, you should be able to easily develop an appropriate meal program to control your glucose level. Most important of all, you really have to diligently follow the plan for effective results to be seen from diabetic meal planning!

Diabetes Control With Proper Diet

You are not alone if you have just been diagnosed with diabetes. No one, of course, welcomes that news. The good news is that you can control diabetes for a long time, and possibly even remove its potentially harmful effects by acting immediately.

There are a number of factors concerning diabetes, and the main one may be where you are now in relation to diabetes? If you are at an early stage, and if your doctor believes that you can willingly control your diet, then you may be able to control your diabetes without drugs.

A piece of good news, however, is that if an overweight individual is diagnosed with pre-diabetes, then he or she could reduce that risk simply by losing the excess weight. This also shows that there is a direct correlation between the two. Diabetes can often be pushed back a number of years simply by doing this. In some cases, it may even be completely avoided. It usually takes losing about 7% of your body weight on average, to have this effect. Some may require more, but any weight loss for an overweight person is a move toward better health in the long run.

Once you have created your diet plan, and have calculated in the right amount of calories, you will need to stick to the plan. The reason for this is to regulate your blood sugar levels and keep them as even as possible. This means that it will be important for you to eat everything on your plan at each meal and at the snack times, too. The thing that you do not want is to have your blood sugar levels get too high or too low. Remember that both could be harmful.

Diabetes is not something to play with, but rather something to defeat before it ever comes. Getting started right away can help you avoid the problems that are associated with diabetes.
